NEWARK — At least two Newark men were shot and killed this weekend in separate incidents, authorities said.
Around 9 p.m. Saturday, Altariq Kornegay, 21, was shot multiple times on the 200-block of Avon Avenue in Newark, Katherine Carter, a spokeswoman for the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office, said this afternoon. Kornegay was taken to University Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 9:45 p.m.
Then, around 1:15 this morning, Reginald Terry, 18, was shot and killed during an altercation near Washington and Market streets in Newark, Carter said. That’s about three blocks from the Prudential Center. Another person was shot at the time but was in stable condition today, Cater said.
The prosecutor’s office released no other details about the killings.
