20131217-190218.jpg Althea Gibson was the first black woman to win a Grand Slam tennis title in 1956 when she won the French Open. Ms. Gibson won 5 Grand Slam Titles including twice winning both the U.S. Open and Wimbeldon. She died September 28, 2003 (aged 76) in
East Orange, New Jersey
